Nike notoriously created the Aqua Sock back in the mid-1980s as an amphibious sneaker-sock which quickly spawned incremental upgrades such as the Aqua Turf. It returns for the first time since 1992 and will likely see more dry land than its aquatic environment – but prove us wrong.

The stretchy mesh sock is thin and form-fitting, designed to be worn sockless. Underfoot a beefy rubber and foam sole offers adequate grip on tarmac and should go the distance as well. This doesn’t mean cushioning is a second thought – a foam midsole strobel dulls impact just enough for this to stay on feet for more than a few steps.
